We love Saturdays!

We love Saturdays. Daddy is home and there is always some sort of festival. Today we went to the Botanical Gardens where they were having a Japanese Festival. I tend really just to take photos of Elia and not the festivities. Josh actually took most of these. This first one is now my all time favorite photo of our baby.

Elia was actually standing up while on my lap. From sitting! With little help from me. She is incredibly strong and has been getting up on her knees already! She will be crawling soon we think.

Storytime

Unfortunately Josh misses out on many of our activities since he has to work. Elia and I usually go to the library on Mondays for storytime but they have them on Saturdays every once in awhile. Josh was happy to experience this with her. The ladies at the library do such a good job. Elia likes the puppets. We found a few books for her in Spanish.

I win!

Mom opened her shop!!!!

My mother was only here for a few short days, however we got a lot done. I have been pushing her to open her ETSY store forever. For those of you who don't know what that is by now, you should! It is an online handmade market place that I am totally addicted to. My mother makes amazing jewelry and now she has finally opened her shop. She brought her laptop and I taught her some new tricks with the computer and we were able to post five of her pieces. She will soon add to her body of work and be adding more all the time. I am really proud of her.
So please check it out!

Grandma Liz's visit

My mom came to visit right after Robin. Elia got sooo much love this last week. We had a great visit even though it was very short. Grandma Liz brought this dress for Elia.
Little princess
I don' t think she liked it. (this made me secretly happy....sorry mom. I am not a froo froo girl)

First craft

Elia did her first hand and foot print at the library. We go there for Babygarten(like Kindergarten) where we read books and learn rhymes.

SOOOOO CUTE!

First real food

I had wanted to put off giving Elia solid food until at least she was six months or more. I have horrible allergies so they recommend waiting to give them real food so that they build up as much immunity as they can. Well Elia does NOT like to keep on track. She is always two steps ahead of schedule. She has been staring at us eating for quite some time with doe eyes. She licks her lips and has all the signs of a baby ready for real food. She even tried to take food from Josh the other day. Soooo, with MUCH reluctance on my part and major enthusiasm on Daddy's part, we gave her mashed banana the other night. I was really hoping she would just play with it but not be interested in eating it. MAN WAS I WRONG!!!
She LOVED it! Couldn't get enough. You would think she was starving to death by the way she devoured it up. I took these pictures between sobs of course. I am soooo not ready for this. We don't even have a utensils for her yet. Guess we have to take another trip to Baby's R Us this weekend.

Grandma Robin's visit

Josh's mom Robin came to visit. She was there for Elia's birth and has not seen her since. She was so amazed at how big she has gotten. She had a ball with her.

We had a great time and were sad that Grandpa Jaime could not make it. We look forward to seeing him in December. Robin and Elia got along swimmingly and she is truly in love with her first Granddaughter.

New Business cards

This is my new business card! YAY! I am so excited about them. I found an artist on ETSY that designed them. I love them.

I also got my first account today! I happened upon a boutique the other day in one of the MANY strip malls here while Josh was gettinghis haircut. She had not opened for business yet but she let me look around (people have a hard time telling me no when I have my secret weapon attatched to my hip). He shop was really cute. I decided to just go for it and asked if she was having a grand opening and if I could provide her with an arrangemnet free of charge if she would post my card. Nobody can pass up free! When I brought the arrangement to her today she said asked if I would do one for her every two weeks! I am so nervous and excited about it. Josh has really been lighting a fire under me and I am really grateful. You can see the arrangemnet I did along with another sample I took to a local coffee shop on my flower blog.

Go Gators!

Germantown Festival

We went to a festival this weekend in Germantown. (We basically live on the border of this suburb) It was a beautiful day and we broke in our new travel stroller. It folds up real small and has a carrying strap. Ready for all our travels to Chicago and Florida!
(the soda is Mommies!)
I finally let Josh take same pictures of me.

Germantown Festival

Elia outgrew her infant car seat and it was hard to get her in and out of it, so we got her a big girl car seat. We ended up with this one after trying a great one that was given to us and three others before we found one that fit in our tiny car.

Five months old

Elia is five months old today! I just can not believe how fast it is all happening. Every day she does something new. She stays sitting up when we put in that position. She loves to stare at her hands and will play with her fingers. She has an affinity for texture and pattern (wonder where that comes from). She is in constant movement. I would like to say that while she is sleeping she is still but she even moves in her sleep! She is a chatty catty while we are home and has discovered several new noises. I think she is desperate to talk. However when we are out and about doing our many new activities, she is rather quiet and just stares bright eyed at everything. People are always telling us how "alert" she is. Are five month olds supposed to just sit there and do nothing? She wants to see and learn everything. She loves to be with other kids and still loves to be outside. People are also always telling us how pretty she is. I tell Josh that people say that about all babies but he thinks they go out of their way to tell us. He says "she brings Joy to the world!".
We are now making that her theme song.
Trying to get Elia to pose with the number block is proving a little more difficult this month. Like I said, she never sits still.

Lazy morning

On Sunday mornings Josh makes pancakes and we sit on our porch and read magazines. Since Josh had a three day weekend we did it this Labor Day morning.
Elia LOVES her Daddy chair.
This is Elia's new face she likes to make where she sucks in her bottom lip. There is a hilarious noise that goes along with it that you can hear in a previous post.

Tuckered out

We took Elia on a walk on Labor Day. She got all tuckered out.

Fun with boxes

I think we have way too much fun with Elia! Josh likes to put things on her head. These were one of the first toys we got Elia even before she was born. She really now can enjoy them. She likes to watch them fall over.
