Break dancing Baby

Happy New Year!

Christmas Dinner

We cooked a turkey for just the two of us. We used a Martha Stewart recipe for brining the turkey with Riesling and herbs. We also cooked it upside down. It was delicious!!

Nothing too fancy. My mother would gasp if she knew I set the table like this. We sat in our PJs and pigged out! It was great.

Deceptively Delicious

Josh gave me an early Christmas present. I saw this woman on Oprah. She actually is Jerry Seinfeld's wife who wrote a cookbook. She hides healthy things like broccoli and squash in food she gives her kids. You puree the veggies and add it into the recipes. I needed to bring something to eat to work on Christmas Eve and since they are always teasing me about eating healthy(they eat nothing but fried food and southern cooking), we made these brownies!

carrot puree
The bottom of the blender fell off!! What a mess. That is spinach puree.

They turned out great. You can not taste the veggies at all.

I took them to work and waited forever for someone to finally try them. I especially wanted my boss to try them, who teases me the most. They all said they were delicious and then I told them what was in them. HAHA jokes on them. They are healthy, low fat, fiber rich brownies.

Christmas lights

Well I am feeling huge in my sixth month and for some reason thought that cutting my hair super short would help. Not sure if I was right. Elia is moving like crazy now especially when I want to go to sleep. Josh has finally seen my stomach move. I am still experiencing a strange pain in my side but am dealing with it as best I can. Josh has been amazingly supportive and since he is on his break from school, has been like a house-husband, cooking and cleaning and taking excellent care of me. We waited in line for an hour on Saturday to see this amazing Christmas light show in a state park near here. You stay in your car and drive through the park and see fantastic Christmas lights. We had a great time. At one point we got out of the car and you could get hot chocolate and roast marshmallows. Is it weird we do these things without kids??

Christmas Tree 2007

We didn't get to do a tree last year since we left for Mexico right after the holiday, so we were excited to get one this year. I wanted a long needle pine but realize now why the other kind of trees are so popular. It is hard to see anything in such a thick tree. I had to literally trim the tree so that you could see the ornaments. Oh well, now I know. We also are on a tight budget so I did my best with Dollar Store decorations and cheap retro garland. A far cry from the decked out trees we did at work, but someday.

Growing and growing. I feel her move around a lot but Josh is getting frustrated that he has not felt her yet. Soon enough.
