We rented a car this weekend and went to Poas volcanic crater. We were really lucky that we even got a glimpse of it. It was so foggy we could hardly see ten feet in front of us. We hiked up there anyway and suddenly for about five minutes it cleared up soo we could see it. We saw some amazing fauna on our hike. I felt like I was in a fairy land.

It has been really rainy since we have been here but I got a glimpse of a sunset tonight.

Nice huh? Our wacky landlord took me further up the hill today to see the view.

Finding a place to live was not much fun. There was not a lot available and we were getting a little worried. We found a place finally however. We had high hopes for San Jose even though we had heard not great things about it. Well turns out that everything we heard was true and San Jose is a bust. It is very dirty and there is not much to it. We decided that Escazu was ideal for us. It is up the side of the mountain and kind of far from San Jose. Check out the pictures. It is super small. We have only three rooms that are lined up in a row. Josh says it is like living on boat, I think it is more like a trailer. But we have a patio that is above a little river, fruit trees, and an amazing view of the city below.

We are 2000 feet above San Jose. This morning we sat on our porch eating breakfast and watching an array of birds and butterflies fly around at our feet. It takes us 20 minutes on the bus to get to Escazu center which has everything we need; supermarkets, restaurants, and shops. It caters to Americans and almost everyone speaks English. We really have no reason ever to go into the city. Josh is also only about 30-45 minutes to his work.

Our landlord is a retired architect from Georgia. He is a hilarious dirty old man and loves to have us “young kids” here. He lives next to us. He has been very generous taking us around town to get to know the area and to pick up odds and ends at the store. The ONLY thing that we are struggling with is I am deathly allergic to this place. I have actually been pretty miserable since we got here. The rainy season has started and everything is moldy and damp. They say that doctors here are incredibly cheap and very good so I think that I will go see a doctor. I hope I can figure something out because we do really like it here.

Well, we arrived in Costa Rica after a full day of traveling. We had a five hour lay over in Atlanta which was more than enough time to catch up on my magazine addiction. Our first day was our year anniversary but we were so tired from traveling we did not do too much. We stayed at a cute little Bed and Breakfast our first week. Josh started work immediately on Monday. Everyone in his office is very nice. They took us to lunch on Friday to welcome us.

We celebrated our one year anniversary on the 29th of April. It was our first day in Costa Rica. We were pretty tired but had a nice dinner at an Indian restaurant.
